I have a 2006 A8L W12. Had camshaft position sensor code pop up so I replaced, did the valve cover gaskets while at it ( removed valve covers ) and then did plugs at the same time. Did the upper manifold removal and that part went great. Fired the car up and at first it wouldn't idle. After a bit it would idle but immediately kicked on the CEL and came up with Camshaft Actuator code. I've pulled the intake back off and the plugs are tight so hoping to find a wiring issue as they are $880 each at my dealer. Anyone know or have access to how to test the Actuators? Also does anyone have what the supply voltage should be to the actuators so I can test the wiring? The mighty google machine has little to say

Do you have a ross tech vag com yet

I'd say the Bentley disc and ross tech is essential to owning one of these cars.

BTW I had a set of cast Niche wheels and they are horribly out of spec. RS4 wheels are good if you want more negative offset . Not sure what you have exactly but figured Id mention it. I couldnt get a good balance done till I went OEM.

Actuators themselves are not electrical they are hydraulic. They rely on oil pressure to move. Resistance spec is 10-18 ohm for the valves that actuate the oil pressure.

The camshaft sensor should receive 4.5 volts on the two outer pins of the 3 pin connector.

W12 has four camshaft position sensors, all at back of heads. Are you sure you replaced the problem one, or that a second didn't go bad too? The Audi numbering on those relative to codes you get in VCDS is a bit confusing. I lost two of them over a few years, in both cases the exhaust ones closer to that outer hot manifold on each side. In both cases the wiring was also a bit heat fried, especially on the USA passenger side. I replaced the connectors and used some heat shrink tubing on the conductors.

Given those are known fail points on W12 due to the heat issues (along with the water temp sensor back there), I would focus on those hard until you are sure they are in order.

You also cleared all codes from BOTH ECU's, correct?

If more cam sensors BTW, those are available under the OE Bosch part # for a fair amount less than at dealer. I get them from AutohausAZ in USA.

The camshaft position sensor code went away and didn't return. The new code is for the camshaft actuator
