This morning while driving my 36 1/2 week pregnant wife to work, some donut in a G35 coupe cut me off on the highway and after smacking my brake pedal and the ABS kicked in, I heard a 'ding' and then there was a red flashing "BRAKE" warning light from the instrument panel.

The ding sound only happened once and then the BRAKE warning light extinguished itself after about 10 seconds. I thought maybe the parking brake activated itself but the light on the switch itself was not on.

Any thoughts?

cause reactions to the tune of warning lights that come on once and then disappear. I wouldnt worry about it for now but the next time the car visits the dealer, see if it stored a code. BTW, here is a "premature" congratulations bimmer!!! Did that sound right? LOL

If it is too low, the braking force will move the fluid forward and it can trigger the fluid level sensor.
