Welcome screen change
#2
You may want to try one of the specialized sub forums related to MMI and RNS-E etc. Based on RNS-E etc I think you may have to edit the actual file structure and then make your own incremental upgrade CD. Not for the faint of heart.
What did you do so far? Please document what you find in your journey - would be very cool to do.

Well, I have tried CAR+SETUP, as mentioned on the 2G welcome screen change on the internet posts, it doesn't get me to the change menu, whether S, RS, S6 etc. I have VCDS but really don't know where to go from here....any help, please ?
Thanks

So, FWIW I think you are way off on the bleeding edge here. Your fingers are going to have to do the walking if you will--a fair amount.
I think I have maybe seen just fragments of discussion about stuff like this in far flung places. Look at things like the VCDS/VAG COM boards and search for MMI mods via Google and such. I suspect on a D3 about all you can do "stock"/easily is go between the A8 and S8 type screen. That is documented somewhere in the hidden menu stuff IIRC. There may also be a way to save some obscure file to then display if you put it in the right format and with the right name, but again you will have to dig.
All this aside, not even sure what the end result is. Unless I power mine down (three button reset), I never even see the splash screen in MMI. I do on the Q5, but not the D3. I also see one in the rear seat video for the W12, but that is essentially a standalone system.

The only time you see the splash screen is after a reboot.
Not worth worrying about.
But as stated its on the green screen (hidden menu)
I don't know if there is actually a a8 or s8 splash screen , certainly isn't on mine (2004)
Play with it at your own risk especially boot
