Default Trying to Get Group Buy on Billet Oil Filter Housing Caps

Post here if you are interested, we can get pricing lower if we get 10 people together. These are for the 4.2 V8 Audis (and VW). Im sick of my plastic one being all stripped out, I need to buy a new one soon, like before next oil change.

Just changed the oil on my 2006 last night and I am pretty sure mine is stripped out too. What a pain in the a$$ of a procedure! They couldn't have put some of the screws in worse places to get the airbox off (underneath MAF sensor, and one of the lower box torx). I think the engine swap in my old MR2 was easier...

Anyways, I want to get one, but I am likely going to be loyal to Mishar since he provides us with a wealth of knowledge on here.

My sentiment too. Just ask Mishar if he can match the price. You never know, he maybe able too.

I had to replace mine 2 oil changes ago due to it being stripped....Bought plastic one because I didn't know these existed until mishar's post. What is the price anyway, for these or mishar's?

How often do you change your oil? all oil change is 10k-15k miles with synthetic = 1 a year? I'll stick with my original plastic cap- The designed it for a reason, I don't think it was a cost cutting measure to put a plastic cap instead of metal, the same as the links on the manifold - when the plastic links broke, something is wrong or stuck, why would you want to put a metal piece to fight the stuck device, will it ruin the engine???

Cheers,

Louis

PS: if I can't get my oil filter cap out, I don't change the filter. It won't kill the engine (proven with many cars) with old oil filter or old oil - running engine with lack of oil - will kill the engine which I check regularly.

mishar,

Does your cap fit on the 2007? I think I remember that it does not but I just wanted to be clear.

Is the price of this other cap a big secret? I am in for 10 of them at 2 bucks... Without a price everyone or no one is in.

Unfortunately it doesn't. It fits 2003-2006. FSI engines have filter on top of it, easier to unscrew so longer lasting even made out of plastic.
