There are several items that you need to check.

1. Timing belt, hopefully both have had this. Dealer 2,000 - 2,500, garage maybe a 1,000.00 less. If it breaks, you can sell the car for parts and scrap aluminum.
2. MMI mechanism, if it is the stock gears, it is slipping. The is a 50.00 -100.00 parts and 200.00 - 300.00 labor.
3. Tire pressure monitors. In Texas you cannot get plates it does not work. 250.00 or so. Texas is tough, no codes to pass inspection.
4. Brake rotors - if stock they need replacement. 500.00 - 750.00. Replace pads at the same time.
5. Fuel and cabin filter.
6. Always change oil and filter soon on a used car.
7. Even if Audi lists transmission filter and fluid as lifetime, I plan on swapping at 10 years old or 100,000 miles. If your transmission fails you will be dealing with the guy who did not change his timing belt at 100,000 miles to buy his.
8. Lots of potential issues with power truck, sunroof, and air suspension system. These are hit or miss. Some last forever. All are expensive.

Someone told me to budget 2,000.00/year for maintenance/repairs. For an eight year old car with 100,000 miles this sounds about right.

Default Plan well and have a nice car to drive...

I always believe in "fail to plan, plan to fail"...
What's your plan with these cars? 150k and 100k miles are 3-4 years of driving. Why look at both since they're so much difference. Read the forum, many people bought their cars and have no fun of owning them because of all the problems. Cheaper price cars doesn't mean inexpensive cars, you'll find out when you have to dump money in it.
This was how I searched for my 06 A8L. I work on my car and I don't buy wounded cars, regardless how small of the problems they have. There is no small problems in Audi A8L. Do these 100k and 150k miles are fully functional?

Learn about options on these cars and make sure everyone of them works in the cars that you look at. Again, even though some options you don't care if they work or not, but it just shows how well the owner keeps his/her car.

Read about suspension - 100k miles seems to be the mark of starting to break.

I don't buy A8L cars that owners don't have garages, believe it or not, garages do prolong life of cars. Again, if a car is pampered, it won't be cheap at any mileage, unless you're extremely lucky.

Anyhow, if you plan and do your research well, you'll get a nice one and have great time with it. Remember, it's very easy to buy a lemon, but very hard and costly to sell one...

Cheers and good luck,

Louis

Well stated and truelly respected! Although I have been owning the vehicle over a year now... your advice has struck me in heart. Everyone should well be awared of possible risks when you would buy an aged (yet classic) European flagship. It ain't no Hyundai or Kia.. you know.
