20x10 ET40 will fit perfectly without spacers. 275/35x20 will fit perfectly 20x10, even better than factory 20x9.

To post pictures you go advanced and find it in the menu.

Default 275/35/20 on 2009 S8?

Hey guys I just purchased a 09' S8, can 275/35/20 tires fit without spacers on stock 20" rims without rubbing?

I was looking into installing 275/35/20 of Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 tires.

Thanks to all!

Yes, a common switch. W12 and later 4.2 option with 20's used the 275 tire choice. Only the S8's had the 265's. In 20's, same 9" wheel size on all and same offsets. It was just a one off S8 thing. But 265 is an orphan size, with a lot more tire choices and generally better pricing on the range of 275 choices.

Thank you soo much for replying back! , I was reading up on some posts that PILOT SPORT A/S 3 PLUS 275/35/20 are good tires. Discounttire has them on sale for $216 a piece, total $864 with $50 mail in rebate. I think this would be a better choice and deal as compared to the Continetinal tires.

I agree with your conclusion. Last set of A/S's I got for W12 just before passing on w/in family were exactly the ones you name. But to be 100.000000% clear, must be the Michelin A/S 3 Plus. The earlier non-pluses or prior gen similar ones are complete non-starters to me for any snow/ice whatsoever. The Plus came out a year or so ago, specifically to compete with the DWS. The DWS (pre-DWS 06) was earlier known as much more acceptable for light winter use than the earlier Michelin "non-Plus." The Michelin non-plus A/S is the only supposed A/S (or winter) tire on which my wife or I (both of us...) have outright slid in quite unexpected scary ways in quattro or other AWD in last 15 years. Both times in D3 W12. By contrast I drove D4 S8 at yet more HP this past winter season in a bunch of snow and ice conditions on the DWS 06 with no particular drama, which itself is known as tuned more to performance side than straight DWS. Only with the Michelin in "Plus" flavor would I get to similar comfort level from the Tire Rack and similar reviews. I might well have gotten the Michelin A/S 3 Plus for the D4 too, but they don't have the relevant size so far to fit D4.

Hello, the 275-35-20s works great, no spacer needed. I've ran Yokohama, Pirelli and Dunlops. Continental DWS A/S is by far the best, I have over 50K miles on them and still quiet, treadwear is superb on the Continentals. The tread pattern has a sporty look, imo. I've never tried Michelin. Goodluck!

I always agree with what you say, but here I will strongly disagree. On the D3's the Pilot Sports (+, 2, 3, etc.) are all garbage. They are great for 20k miles, or however long they last. These things burn much too quickly and you never reap the performance benefits, as well it is a D3. Go with the Conti's or a set of Nitto Movito's

From experience with the Michelin A/S+'s on same W12, those didn't last that much longer than the summers but did cost more. In current tires, IIRC I'll use AS+'s as a proxy for DWS 06's wear wise--both high performance A/S's. Over my ownership, I ran two sets of Dunlop SportMaxx's, a set of PS2's, the set of the A/S+'s, and one set of SottoZero winters scattered across a bunch of years. Because of the winters at a few thousand miles per winter, I can't give exact miles on the others. But basically running down to about 2/32's that you can do here in CA with dry summers and then just swapping out tires before rain starts, my best estimate I was getting low 20K mile range on those two brands of summers (across 3 sets) and maybe high 20K mile range on the A/S's.

To throw a range out, I think 40-50K on a solid performance tire on a car like this is not realistic. Just too heavy and too much torque and brake action in particular. Recognize my test case those is the heaviest D3 with the most torque, biggest footprint tire and largest capacity brakes. Spirited driving will vary obviously from stereotype little old lady driving too. From being here many years, I really don't recall W12 posts with tire mileage beyond 30K. But folks were also not running econo hard tires either.

On a cost per mile basis, the Dunlop Sport Maxx summers were probably marginally the cheapest, or at least as cheap as the Michelin A/S's. They since have gone up in price (to where they are much less interesting competitively), but at the time were a good notch less than either the Michelin PS2 summer or the A/S+. Honestly, on the performance side they were hard to separate. All are a generation or two back to what is on market today though.

FWIW, now running Conti DW's and DWS 06's on D4 S8. Again very high power car relatively, as heavy as D3 W!2 was, big brakes, etc. Frankly if I get 30K out of either set I will be surprised, but more likely to get closer to it on the DWS's. I'm guessing 20K again on DW summers. Some guys are seeing supposedly seeing < 15K with D4 S8 (or similar power + weight RS7) tires, but I suspect either are being given a line by dealers and don't look critically at tires themselves and/or or pushing car meaningfully harder than I do. IIRC when I got the DW's, they were a bit less than the DWS-06's so again the per mile math gets closer.

Back to the specific point and tires raised in the thread, DWS06's are on sale at TR in the 275/35 20 currently. Looks like a good current price. BUT, go back to the post I responded to myself. The Michelin price cited was basically just as cheap ($216 vs. 213). Damn good, and less than I paid for the AS+'s many years ago now. In plain English, low $200 range per tire for something in very high performance categories in these sizes is very good. And yeah, for $3 incrementally a pop, I'll still stand by what I said and take the Michelins. Tire Rack ratings would too IIRC, though both are relatively high on list. On a per mile basis, the math is influenced by those sales, rebates, etc. coming into play here and in my prior response, besides just the general tire price.

in a word NO but have used 9.5J x 20" ET-35 with 295/30/20 all round no problems on full lock and can say 295/35/20 would also fit...... even tried 305/30/20 on 9.5 J but outside everyone recommendations but tyre/rim combination looks good and drives good too nothing touches on the outer wing or the inner body panels but some MOT testers may say wheel outside the body too much but a fender extension kit is available to give added 20mm each side....my car is a 08 D3

MP, I agree that with our heavy cars, power, AWD, and bushing issues, I have never got over 30k on set of Michelin AS+ and and AS3s or any other set of tires. I have never run anything else on my D3s. I just ordered a set of Continental Extreme Contact Sports. They are pure summers but I live in ATL so they should be good for me. Will report back.
