Default Window Noise On Driver's Side Door At Speed

My mom has a 04' A8L that has had a problem with high pitched wind noise on the driver's door window at speeds above 60mph. The noise will come and go depending on the road condition and speed. If she ever gets above 75mph she's guaranteed a whistle to wherever she's going including a recent 400 mile drive to California and back. She's had two dealers look at the car and every time they are unable to replicate the problem. I believe she has double pained glass.

Just curios if anyone else has exhibited a similar problem? I found one post from USA8L describing the same problem around 90mph.

Default I have double-pane glass but because I do not exeed

35 MPH I hear nothing! LOL Seriously, I have never heard what you are describing. I wonder if theres an issue with either the outside mirror or a piece of moulding or trim that has worked itself loose.

The dealer replaced all of the driver's side window molding. My hunch as well is that it has to do with the driver's side mirror. Next step is to video tape the noise in order to demonstrate the problem for the dealership.

Default Never had that problem. . . a "window adjustment" is a very

easy fix actually so I would guess it is infront of and not involving the glass.

Default its next to impossible to get the dealer to address anything that happens above 65mph...

anything above the posted speed limit it considered out of their hands...

oh to be in germany... "yeah i've got excessive wind noise around 130-140 mph, think you can take a look at it?"

That's there excuse, but out her in AZ highway speeds outside city limits are 75mph and you're getting passed by big rigs doing 80 on the drive to CA. I did get an Audi dealer to rebalance a tire that wiggled around 75-80mph on my grandma's week old 03' A4. Of course the car was towed in with bad ignition coils, so they weren't about to argue.

Default I had a similar noise to the one you describe on

my previous car (A6 2.7) which occurred over 75mph again on the drivers door. Schaumburg Audi adjusted the fit of the door - no questions asked - and eliminated the noise all under warranty.
Obviously the cars are built differently and it may not be the same problem but the dealer should be willing to make adjustments to resolve the issue.

Default Re: Window Noise On Driver's Side Door At Speed

Just wanted to update this thread with the fact that the noise is now gone. It was the driver's side mirror and only took four weeks between two dealerships to solve.
