Only on occasion, usually over dips in the road, but it's a very definitive brief 'whoop' noise, almost sounds suspension like, but might be door seal, not sure.

Not a constant sound, and only happens once in a while, but it's definitely there. Don't see any other issues, car is barely one year, 9k miles. Will have dealer examine soon, but wondered if it's something obvious.

Anyone hear of this? Searched this board, did not find.

Have experienced the same as described. Started noticing about at about a year and 10k miles.

Would appreciate what your dealer says.

Yup, I get same sound occasionally on my 2011 when front suspension dips after going over a bump in road. Usually happens when first starting out before everything heats up. Had it also on my 2008 D3.

I have 2011 A8 - I noticed same noise...but have not taken to dealer.

Usually on cool mornings or if the vehicle hasn't been driven in a few days.

Control arm bushings.
Not much can be done about it.

If the vehicle had 70k miles on it, I'd replace them......

I think it might have something to do with the front seals in the air suspension. My 2005 A8L does it as well, and usually on cold mornings. BTW, I've had the upper control arm bushings replaced twice on my '05, once at 45k and again at 68k. The dealer did it under warranty at 68k, as good will.

I'm really hoping all this is fixed on my 2013.

My 09 does it in the mornings once or twice then after it gets warm or drive for about a mile i don't hear it anymore,i did change the upper control arm bushings about 6k miles ago.
I drove a 2012 A8L from the dealer for a few days and it did it as well, with only 1,600 miles on it. I hope it helps
