Also interested in knowing the size flex pipe for A8L. If anybody had a link to one that would be great.

Does this procedure applies to the 3.0 FSI? My 2014 has developed a idling vibration that can be felt when the rpm drops to below 1k, specially at stop lights or right after the car stars and drops the rpms. At throttle (above 1500 rpms) the vibration goes away. Need to take the car in for the 75k service in a couple of months, will mention the issue but I hope that the issue is not with the engine/trans mounts. My old 2008 D3 is silk smooth at 110k miles and still have the original mounts.

for $40/pair and had my local trusted exhaust shop cut the old flex pipes out and weld the new ones in. It took 2 hours of labor @ $50/hr and when I picked the car up it was completely vibration free! No more 3k or 1k rpm vibration at idle or while driving, all for $150. It sure beats the dealer installed price of $1500! Give it a try!
For D4 S8, What size flex pipe did you have to install?

was it 2.5” x 8” x 8”?

thanks in advance

Default How does it sound? Can you send a bedroom of it please?

Had a muffler delete and ECS black chrome tips installed. Also had them weld new flex pipes in the mid pipes. So far I’m really pleased with the sound and the look! Also no vibration at 3k!

Is the flex pipe vibration issue a turbo engine only issue for the D4 body? NA engines not affected?

I read through the feed and couldn't find a definitive answer.

2015 A8L 4.0T, installed 2.5 x 6 x 6 this week. <$30 for the pair (used the amazon link in the earlier post) and ~$200 for labor at a local shop. Vibration is gone.

I just ordered the parts for a '13 A8L 4.0T per the recommendation. Can you confirm where they should be welded? It looks like 3 & 4 but I'd like to be sure before bringing to the exhaust shop. Thanks!

Ordered the 2.5 x 6 x 6 flex pipe for my 13 A8L 4.0t and brought it to a muffler shop and they said it wouldn't work since the inlet and outlet diameters wouldn't match the replacement flex pipe since it has the same DI in and out.

Did they tell you the proper diameters? Are adapters an option? My appointment is set for Thursday but it sounds like I may need to cancel and return the parts.

Thanks!

They did not tell but if you already have a appointment just go and see what they say. Others on this thread have had this welded in without issues. I'll go and see another shop and see what they have to say.
