So the official info is out because of Frankfurt this week.

https://www.audi-mediaservices.com/p...0/audi_a8.html

I was surprised to notice that the curb weight quoted for the 3.0 TFSI is 1830kg, which is the same as the current car.

I then looked at that performance specs for the 4.2 TDI.

Current Std 350 hp 800NM = 5.5 secs
MTM Chipped 410 hp and 910 NM = 4.9 secs
New Std 385 hp 850NM = 4.7 secs

Admittedly, I haven't come across any new power/torque profiles of the revised motor, but I can't imagine it being different from the Cayenne S Diesel (which us the same engine with these outputs). I wonder if they've changed the gearing slightly to get it moving so spritely. Even the economy is about the same as the current car.

Odd.

And the Nanuk, a 5.0 V10 diesel with 563hp and 1000NM of torque. Yes please in the D5 :-) That would make a perfect diesel S8. Even if they don't, this engine marks a new line of modular units with 6/8/10 cylinders, which I'd imagine would all fit in the bay of our beloved A8's.

Some pictures of the new cars boot/trunk. Not the clearest, but I think it's visibly deeper (10cm according to my maths). It also looks a vent has been moved to the right - assuming the electrics are behind there now.

That is less than 4/10ths of an inch! Hardly discernable!

I think your metric converter is out of whack. 10 cm is just on 4 inches, which is fairly discernable by any standard.

The other thing I've noticed is that the fuel tank now appears to be 82 litres instead of 90 litres for the facelift model.

The boot/ trunk only seems bigger on the petrol cars, he diesels only have a 490 litres boot.

Very odd.

As far as the matrix headlights are concerned - I'm sure they are stunning but the new implementation of the DRL strip seems bland to me. I love the almost sinister, floating look in my LED housings - this light strip seems unemotional and monotonous, it gets lost in the chaos of the new front facia.

Same here.
Honestly I think they are an excellent piece of kit as they catch so many eyes on the road.
That's why I also would never turn off the "wink" they do with a turn signal.

The way I figure is if others notice me and their head is on a swivel, they are less likely to run into me

I know this probably sounds like sour grapes, but I really like the "old" model better than the refresh. I agree that the old headlights look better and also think that the larger tail lights of the old model look better as well. Don't really care about an extra 3"-4" of depth in the trunk--I really don't find mine to be too small.
