2015 A8L 4.0T Oil Change - Recommendation

502/505 compliant oil--or 504/507 compliant oil if you want and are in a very low sulfur fuel state like CA. That is, it needs to meet Audi requirements, at least while under warranty. Thus Mobil 1 0W40 or various Castrol flavors for me. See: https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...e-Bulletin.pdf Filter from one of the on line discount dealers like audiusaparts.com. As cheap or cheaper than a lot of the Audi indy parts places. Factory filter on my 4.0T S8 is UFI. It was Hengst on my D3 W12.
Mine has AudiCare, so I just do some in between changes. Thus, Dealer does the scheduled changes on mine. Cost effective if you get it before first service they don't provide (15K on a 2015), since it includes the major tune up service at 35K. Dealer oil is typically Castrol; has a dye marker in it too. If you bought used and don't already know, check whether your car already has AudiCare--it is prepaid goes w/ car, not owner and not typically refundable. An Audi dealer service dept can look up VIN and tell you. Lease turn ins probably less likely to have it, especially if on short lease terms.

Thanks for the info. I have always done my own service but might see about AudiCare. Given that you have it, do you feel it is worth the cost? I just looked and the cost is 1179.00.

MP and I disagree on this but AudiCare is a ripoff in my opinion. Very profitable for the dealer selling these maintenance programs. And if you do some the maintenance yourself its way more cost effective. Unless you like throwing money away...
Oil filter plus oil is less then $100
Cabin air filter $15
Engine Air Filter $40
Spark plugs $50
Labor?

Throwing money away for one is not necessarily throwing money away for another. Just might be worth the cost for those that do not wish to do their own maintenance. To each his own.

You can always buy the parts and pay for labor only. This would be at about 1/3 - 1/2 the cost of AudiCare. I just did this on my rear brakes. Cost me $230 for parts and labor. I did not do it myself even though I planned on it as I did not have time with work before a family vacation. Otherwise it would of been about $100 in parts. Dealer usually charges about $700 for this same work. What a rip.

Again, be sure car wasn't already covered by a prior owner buying AudiCare. When I bought mine CPO I had dealer check for it. In various prior years it was sometimes bundled for a promotion, but on 2015's it often had to be owner purchased.

And I'm about as deep a DIY'er as it goes for that matter. There are corner cases like W12 and Hybrid (you get a tranny fluid change w/ Hybrid) where it is also a no brainer, while others where the tune up isn't until 55K or 60K where is doesn't compute very well.

AudiCare and Care Plus equals out to really the same as walkup dealer pricing. Between RockAuto and Amazon I have sourced all my parts at great price vs dealer parts. Yes, your cost will vary based on configuration. I understand the appeal when buying new and basically new but if you source the parts yourself and pay for labor only there is no denying it cost about twice as much for the actual services that are part of the program vs warranty work. Especially if you do not have a warranty.
10 quarts of M1 Eurpean formula plus a filter is $90 shipped on Amazon. With a little searching I found a great performance shop, good labor rates, they have a road-force balancing machine and do really everything as well as build race engines. Can't wait to get the factory pads off the front and put my Centric pads on the front. The amount of dust is like 1/3 between my front and back now.
