360 Camera Calibration

Hello All,

About a year ago, I had my wheel alignment done with some new tyres.

Since then, the 360 view isn't as "lined up" as it once was. It looks like it's the rear camera alignment is the issue.

I visited a garage today with ADAS facilities - and they relieved me of £60+vat to plug the car in and check whether or not they could do it.

Turns out they could - at a cost of £360+vat. This gives me concussion. Perhaps I should have gone to Audi!

I do have VCDS, however this also gives me concussion - as whilst I've researched the calibration procedure, I am neither confident nor competent to run it. Furthermore - I don't have the domino boards, although I see other printed them.

The way I see it - there are 4 outcomes:

1. I pay the £360+vat and forget it.
2. I ask audi (which might be sensible regardless)
3. Someone here has experience of a working procedure (I don't mind printing the dominoes)
4. I leave it alone.

I'm loathed to throw hundreds at something so minor.

Any thoughts or input appreciated, and thank you for any advice.

Stay well!

Michael.

To update all, I just spoke to Audi Exeter - and their estimate is 3-5 hours at £195 per hour.

I can hire private aircraft for less lol. I'll leave it I think.

@DallasDave noticed some potential VCDS settings that may allow you to adjust the camera output relative to the 360 camera view on the MMI. See: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-.../#post25492619

I don't think anyone followed through yet with going down this route and reporting back. Maybe check it out and let us know if you get anywhere?

I certainly think this it is worth a try. Just document your initial settings first, so you can restore the defaults if necessary. If it were me, I'd forget the domino boards and just change one of the settings to see what transpires. Remember, you may need to "power cycle" the car for the changes to take effect.

Thank you guys.

I saw that thread - and I looked in VCDS, however need some initial guidance on where to find/change those values. I did find the module ok - however had limited success in viewing/manipulating much.

I'm pretty sure my yaw angle in the rear camera is the one out.

It should be under the section labeled 85 - On Board Camera

85 is the front camera that mounted on the windshield.

Thank you Dave - I found that, I'm just not sure of the process to change the offsets within it.

I shall look again, just lacking confidence in VCDS.

85 is actually the camera mounted on windshield that is used for lane assist and pre sense. 360 camera should be under address 6C (J928).
