Based on this, I suspect that the engine flush I performed 1,500 miles prior may have helped to clean the oil screen. I would consider doing the flush again maybe after another 50,000 miles.
Hope this write-up helps others. Best of luck to everyone. Relevant pictures are attached.
1.) oil screen upon extraction
2.) oil screen after wipedown

One, I'm VERY shocked Audi paid for much of this!!! You must be the best negotiator in the world.
Two, please share your engine oil flush product. Your screen seams GREAT and I agree your cleaning product may be the main cause.

Well done spdemon! You set forth irrefutable evidence in the form of admissions from Audi, and I suspect someone in the legal department didn’t want a Pennsylvania District Magistrate, or, worst yet , a Pennsylvania jury, seeing it. ( There is probably some sort of arbitration procedure, actually). Mike

2.) The engine flush I used was Liqui Moly 2037 Pro-Line Engine Flush. If you search youtube, you will see plenty of videos of people documenting the engine flush. Also, plenty of good reviews on Amazon with pictures. There are some who claim engine flushes are bad. To each his own. Do your own research and proceed as you determine best. For me, I am glad I did the flush and would consider doing the flush again after another 50,000 miles. Having said that, I would also be ok moving forward without doing any more flushes as I plan on a more rigorous oil change regimen of every 3,500 to 5,000 miles which coupled with premium Shell gasoline, should keep everything nice and clean anyway. Also, having replaced that restrictive oil screen adds to my peace of mind.

Blown this past Sunday 3/24/19. 2013 A8L at about 80k miles. I already answered the poll so i guess its me that drove the 2013 category to jump to 11.7% I bought the car used in Sept 2017 with a year left in CPO warranty thank god. As cool and fun to drive as it is, i've had bad luck. I hit a deer 2 months after buying (not a fault of the car obviously). I had the coolant leak, a nightmare fight with the dealer on failed noise-cancelling tires (we won) and a couple squeaky suspension parts...all covered in warranty. Warranty expired last August and now boom go the turbos. I was on the highway at 65mph when actually heard weird sound (hard to describe...whine? whimper?) before the computer light came on and the it started running weird but stayed running. Got off the freeway, stopped at a light and that was all she wrote. Since i'm 3rd hand buyer nearly a year out of warranty, i figured i'd skip the fight with audi drama. I had it diagnosed by a good shop near my office but they still use expensive OEM full replacements and will charge $3K in labor. So i just paid for the sillyrabbit replacements (which sounds ridiculous to say/write) and will replace myself (gulp). I'll take video if i can so i can share my installation experience and help any other sad folks who have to deal with the same nightmare.

2015 Audi s7 blown Turbos
Just happened this past Sunday out of nowhere. No warning at all. Car was idling very rough at red light. Took it home and it was hard to start. Took it to dealer Monday and Wednesday they told me that it's the turbos which will be $9600 parts and labor. It has 64000 miles bout it with 42000 a year ago. Does anyone know of a good extended warranty company? The one I had max that they would cover is $5000 so I exhausted that with this repair.

One question, is the "turbo fix" a permanent/guaranteed fix or will the turbo(s) just fail in another 50k - 70k miles?
Good luck to everyone who is dealing with these failures. Hopefully they're isolated and not widespread.

speaking for the sillyrabbit fix, I was told that it uses the same style cores as oem, so just as reliable (or unreliable) and it has a 1-year warranty. They have another option that utilizes a ball bearing design (vs journal) but it’s 2x price but should be bulletproof.

2016 S6 Dead Turbos - 62,000 miles
Was driving in rural area and engine started to run a little rough like spark plug or water in gas problem. Then an occasional clicking noise in engine. Then stalling out at a traffic stop, all without any warning lights and all within just a few minutes. Called Audi then had it hauled to closest Audi dealer 25 miles away. Thankfully I have an extended warranty because the estimated cost for the Audi dealer to replace both turbos is $12,000 with entire front end of car needing to be disassembled. Apparently this is a growing concern for Audi as there is a 4.0 TT maintenance bulletin describing the procedure which includes replacing both turbos.
The 62,000 miles on my 2016 S6 could not have been easier as they were primarily a 40-mile daily interstate commute with maintenance done as prescribed at an Audi dealer.
My next concern is whether the failure was on the compressor side and if fan blade particles scratched up cylinders walls. Will find out more this coming week after parts get to the Audi dealer from Germany.
Not a happy camper when an $80,000 automobile left me stranded on a rural highway with no warning.
