After market remote start

The remote start install, which I had the installer do a few weeks before I picked up the CarPlay, took two, maybe three hours. All in, I believe I stated around $600 (it's in one of my posts). This installer sold was a dealer for these units and they've done many high-end cars (Bentleys, Lambos, R8s, etc.) and jumped right in. For CarPlay, the installer knew what he had to do given the lack of space, but unfortunately, I didn't ask (otherwise I'd give you tips) but that took him 2-3 hours as a pro. Keep in mind that I already had the dash apart but if you timed me on that now, I could have the the entire dash apart (trim, MMI unit, climate control unit, arm rest, etc. removed) in about 45 minutes.
I haven't had a chance to play around the the mirroring yet but I'm fairly certain that it's wired - that's the only way to bring up the menu screen I mentioned. I won't be able to get to it until later in the week at the earliest - if I do find some time, I'll let you know. Unfortunately, I can't take pics or vids of the experience since my phone is driving the functionality of it.
This is a quick vid of what the car looked like after the point of no return....

I played around with mirroring this morning. Here's how it works. Before plugging in my phone, I switch over to the module's menu by pressing the NAV button for two seconds (this is the process to activate CarPlay if my phone was plugged in). Instead of switching to CarPlay (because there's no source), a different menu pops up which includes CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirroring. I selected mirroring and then plugged in my phone. At that point, it works as expected. I watched a few YouTube videos. The downside is that there's no control with the MMI ****/buttons so you have to use the phone as the controller. I also tried to stream a broadcast from my Xfinity app but the app/iPhone recognized this and threw up an error code stating that I couldn't broadcast this to another device. I'm sure there's a workaround for that but I also can't see myself watching TV in my car.

Got it, thanks for taking the time for the testing and feedback. I contacted the owner of RSNAV today (sells the same module out of Canada - you provided a link to his item in an earlier post). Super nice guy and was very helpful. He told me that they are currently in final testing for a wireless CarPlay/Mirroring module that he will be selling in the next month or two, if testing goes as planned. I’m going to hold off and order the wireless version once released.
Thanks again for all of your feedback and help!
