Anyone thinking of doubling down on a D4?
Even in the face of the newest tech associated with the D5, C8, Q8 etc, do any current D4 owners still consider a CPO D4 a viable option? I came across a 2017 A8L 4.0 with 17000 miles. Car appears to be brand new for $56k. I know I've said I was planning to keep my car for a couple more years but I have to admit this particular car has caught my eye. Thinking maybe trade up in model year and trade down in mileage. Thoughts?

Nothing other than wanting more power and nicer leather etc. my car only has 32000 miles and it's paid off. It's tempting but crazy at the same time. I want to be satisfied with my current ride but can't stay off AutoTrader.

Auto Trader is addicting, for sure! If you have a '15 with 32k you should plan to keep it for at least 3 more years. Then, if all goes according to Plan, you can find a nice 2019 off lease CPO for somewhere in the vicinity of the $56k yo mentioned. I have a '15 4.0 at 31k and that is my plan! Also, that '17 will depreciate nearly $15k in a year...

I still owe a buttload of cash on my 2014 S8... but honesty it has everything just in a more conservative infotainment setup.. and with the stage 1 tune it goes 0-60 in 3.2 or something ..

Puzz, I think your thinking is sound, particularly if the newest tech stuff is not a priority. I'll let it to others to address the long term economics of another D4 ride--I have probably lost credibility in that regard having sprung for a new D4 at the tail end of the run--but from a driver's standpoint the D4 nails just about everything, IMO. The move to the 2017 will give you a significant equipment upgrade, which will give you satisfaction, and will carry you far enough into the D5 era to make an informed decision. Who knows, the D4 may end up being the high water mark. Mike

An S8 Plus would be the ideal D4 Encore. If you were going to re-up.
I sat in the new vehicles. The new digital dash is nice, but i don't use that stuff anyway. The touch screen and openness / sleekness of the d5 cabin can't be denied. But i am not a huge fan of the all touchscreen. I was not impressed with the haptic touch needed. That might grow on me overtime if i were to buy one.
2018 rs7 and s8 were priced to move recently. 17.5k off plus more.
