Approaching 75K Service
 

I am approaching 75K on my 2015 A8 L 4.0T and would appreciate any and all advice on what to look for and expect. Having purchased the car used I have an incomplete service history but see from the maintenance booklet that 25K and 35K service was performed at a dealership. I picked up the car at 70K and in terms of maintenance items, I've done rear breaks and an oil service. Additionally I replaced the motor mounts and exhaust (1k/3k fix). Outstanding non-maintenance items include bushings and slow coolant leak. VCDS scan shows no faults. Car runs like a dream.

So after reviewing the maintenance schedule and accounting for the unknown between 35K and 70K, I'm thinking the following are what will need to get done:

• Brake fluid flush
• V belt check
• Tire rotate
• Clean out plenum
• Grease sunroof
• Air filter
• Change spark plugs
• Various visual inspections etc.

I'm also considering adding in a transmission fluid service based on other forum discussions. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Yes, agreed on your general conclusions and to-do's list. Some--inlcuding me--do trans. fluid as you are thinking. Most owners probably never touch. Like w/ the 6 speed, 8 speed has good reliability record to date. I will probably do mine bwteen 75-100K eventually, but I am only at 25K now so a long way to go.

If you DIY it, besides VCDS scan the single best diagnostic I have found is actually getting under there physically and pulling the bottom engine cover. I inspect both it and the components and motor above for any signs of any kind of fluid, plus look at CV boots and such. Often down there is where I first find signs of an oil or coolant leak, and then I can trace back to source.
