I have been waiting to hear if anyone had done an APR tune (or other tune) on the new 4.0 T engine.

They have a program for the A8L, not quite the same peak HP as the S6/S7 with 7 speed, or S8, but certainly a big jump in HP/Torque for $1500.00.

It's a post lease possible buy-out question, along the same lines as deciding to get some Summer Tires instead of the All Seasons.

My understanding is that the transmission is not an issue with such increases in power from the engine.

I called APR, and we discussed the tune for the A8L. They did not have a product listed for that model last week but yesterday they did.

The level of increase for the S6/S7 is much higher, but still now the product for the A8 is listed. $1599, adds about 100 hp with 93 octane. I don't know where I can buy that fuel. Even stock, the car has much more power with 93 octane.

I've had my 2014 S8 tuned by APR now for about 16 months. The power delivery is just incredible.
I am running very low 11's at 125mph in the quarter. The car runs great, still very smooth, it's not jumpy or edgy like some tunes.

If you currently have the 4.0T V8 there is no other substitute to making this kind of "safe power" for the money.
I just recently re-flashed to v1.2 a few weeks ago and yielded about an extra 20hp and 30lb of torque peaking me out right at 700hp and 700lb of torque.

When on the highway, cruising at 70-80mph you can literally pull away drastically from any competitor that comes your way. The car will hit 150-165mph before you know it and all you see in your rear view mirror are Porsches and others just in awe.

Couple of questions if I might.

What is the price of the APR tune?
Does it come as an external unit or do you have to flash the OEM one?
Can I do it myself or it only could be done in a service?
Can it be removed with no traces, in case of engine failure?
Does it also remove the speed limiter?

Giac just released a plug in obd2 port tune. hp and torque curves look just like the apr. the beauty of the plug and play is you don't have to return to any shops for reflash or delete.
