Check engine light on
Hello,
the other days my check engine light came on... Today I notice that the rpm red line went down to 5400... closest audi dealer is 450miles from my place. I am planning to schedule an appointment with dealer but before that I will really would like to know how safe will be to drive it and what the issue may be?
I will really appreciated any information about this issue. I have my A8L 4.0 2015 for little bit over week, the car is got only 33000miles on it.
Thank you in advance!

It's hard to say what is causing the CEL to activate, does the car seem to run and drive ok? Down on power? Is it still under warranty?
You have a couple of options that can save you a trip to the dealer, and save you lots of money over time. You could buy a VAGcom set up to read your codes yourself, or you could buy an even cheaper alternative (and the path I chose) with OBDeleven pro which essentially does the same thing. Either one of these will let you read your codes from your driveway, while also letting you make all kinds of changes to the car itself and certain systems. Regardless, either one will probably pay for itself many times over in just the saved diagnostic fee.

Agree with what @Jibsymalone is saying.
Get yourself an OBD11 dongle which is the easiest way to check why you have this CEL on.
Not sure if our CEL is turning red like on BMWs
Yellow = Warning, you can continue to drive as normal
Red = Critical, stop your car asap.

CEL went on due to faults stored for fuel pump level sensor-g. They checked resistance values for level sensor and found them all to be within specs. So far the light did not went on again so hopefully it will stay that way.

~2 weeks later after I had my car checked out at the dealer (2015 A8L 4.0) the CEL came on again. The code reader (Ross-tech) showed the same issue- Fuel level sensor. I wanted to check out with dealer but due to a busy work schedule I been driving for almost 2 months with CEL on. The other days I red an article that in some cases this error may pop up if the vehicle is not turned off while fueling( I never had the ignition off on my cars while fueling). On my next fueling I turned off the car and after couple days the CEL went off.
I do not know if the situation described above was the reason of CEL on in my case but I would recommend to try it if anybody is experiencing same problem.
