This morning at 29 degrees F while backing from my driveway onto the street with the front wheels turned to the left I heard three rather loud clunks and felt the car react as if a single brake was being applied. It was as if something was binding and suddenly releasing. This will be my first winter with the car, a '15 CPO S8 with 25k miles. Also noticing a slight shimmy at low speed while braking in the 20-10 mph range. Any thoughts or sound familiar? Maybe I gave up my C6 A6 too soon.

Summer tires????

Hi performance tires don't like the cold and will slide at slow speeds at sharp steering angles.

Ah could be! That's whats I have.

....very weird! Sounds something very similar to my S8 (only had it 6 months or so). Does it a couple of times reversing out of the garage maybe.
Wonder what it is?

Def not summer tires as I heard it again last Sat with temps in the low 70's.
