Code Rear Turn Signal to Euro Spec?
Hi,
I am wondering if it's possible to convert the A8's taillight turn signal to the European style, which only lights up the very top row of LEDs. I know the US taillights are all red but still want to know if it can be done via VCDS.
Thank you, and best regards!

Just a caution- if it is possible to make that change, it's also illegal. US regulations state that a certain area of light has to light up at the initiation of the turn signal blink to be legal. While unlikely to be caught by police, it may cause you to fail an inspection. European regulations are different and allow for a different signal pattern.

2014 A8L 4.0T
Appears that it may require wiring.
It may be some time before I disassemble the taillights (too cold in Ohio now)
If all else fails, I'll buy from Alex: https://europrice.us/taillights-a8-s8-led

Oh that's good information. Thank you very much. I remember reading elsewhere that euro and NA taillight wires are identical but guess that's not true...
Good luck on your project! And please let me know how it goes

The NA spec pre-facelift A8, S8 taillights cannot have the functions split unfortunately. There are internally combined functions from what I see which is common for North American taillights. Switching to the European (Rest of World) lights would be the only way to have the discrete upper turn signal. There's also the ability to change out the trunk and go with facelift dynamic lights as well, but that gets a bit more involved.
If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to let me know or PM/email: contact@europrice.us
Cheers,

Unfortunately the North American lights are made in a way that ties functions together. It's possible to fit the European taillights with a bit of work and additional components. There are packages with options available here:
Taillight Packages | A8, S8 Post-Facelift LED
These come with the needed parts: taillights, modules and instructions with the proper coding to make the lights work.
If you or anyone else has questions just let me know here or via PM/email: contact@europrice.us

Cheers,
Can you sell only the modules, wiring harness, and coding instructions? I was able to find a used part online from Europe.
Regards.
