Or is it the 2013 that has this engine?

Twin turbo 4 liter V8 engine began in 2013MY, as I indicated on my earlier post.

Be careful on chipping an Audi car, since this can void your factory warranty and possibly any extended warranty you purchase. Some dealers are willing to look the other way on this issue, but I believe most won't. Also, if your car is at the dealer and is linked up with Audi's computer, any ECU performance upgrades would likely be flagged with a warranty denial being the end result.

Thanks, I missed that earlier mention.

Is the performance of the 2011 4.2 engine much different from the 4.0T? Before mods I mean. Thanks

More info on TD1 flag here: VWVortex.com - TD1 warranty flag

Reasons to be flagged include modifications to:
  • ECM
  • Intake
  • Turbo
  • Clutch / flywheel
  • Shifter - doesn't apply in our case

I'm surprised they don't flag vehicles for exhaust modification, but that document may be out of date.

I'd suspect increased pressure on the tranny torque converter would also be a concern. Wait, that would fall under clutch/flywheel I suppose.

Logical.

It's criminal in my opinion what people do to these magnificent vehicles.
Good for Audi to refuse them service for damaging the design.
