Coolant fan having a party on its own...
Hi all from your newbie,
Been fixing cars most of my adult life (some may argue with the first word), but always learnt that if you have a problem share it and don't rip out what you don't have too. So I present my current dilemma.
I have had my 2011 A8 SE 3.0 DTI for two years, boughtt her second hand and have thoroughly enjoyed my motoring. No real had problems apart from a batch of bad diesel which caused a CAT regen problem and a windscreen top seal fail.
However over the last week my coolant fan is having a life of its own, running on fast then dropping down when unlocking of car and on none ignition and engine cold.
I ran VCDS and it found:
1 Fault Found
4527 - Coolant Fan Control Circuit 1
P0480 00 [47] - Electrical Malfunction
I have tried to research this with little luck. I assume it is the fan control module?
Any one of the Audiworld members had experience of this fault before I open the toolbox?
Thanks in advance.

Same issue on 4.2TDI
Audi dealer unable to diagnose the issue.
Fan runs from cold upon opening the driver door.
Continues to run after any journey and car is locked, will come on and off 2 or 3 more times for a minute or two then settle down.
Advised it might be a faulty thermostat.
Any ideas?
