Default Coolant (?) Leak ?

I just decided to look under my hood, as I was thinking I need to wash the engine off since it's been a while.

And I see that down there......

I was able to get that pic with my phone, but it is hard to see what that is as there is no room to squeeze my head down there or to get a better angle!

Does that look like coolant to you guys?

I guess I need to go to the dealer.....

Looks like coolant to me. Seems like a trip to the dealer is in order.

I'm dropping it off this evening. I'll keep the forum posted.

I couldn't quite figure out where the leak was but this picture makes it clear.

Yep, classic repetitive baked on coolant residue. The slight pink tinge here and there always gives it away. Sometimes you get this crusted on sort of look, especially with parts that run hot by their nature, and other times a fluffy sort of cotton like stuff, also w/ a pinkish hue.

The service advisor I s/w thought it was just "a clamp".

"I don't see one" said I.

"Oh, then it could be the water pump leaking"

Car is at the mothership, still awaiting for the official diagnosis.

Thanks for the pics guys!

Hopefully your dealer does a better job than mine.

Sorry for your dealer woes. I'd probably be looking at Audi in my rear-view if I was as frustrated as you man. Best of luck!

Dealer texted back and sure enough, that aux water pump has a leak and will be replaced. It should take no more than 2 days.

Sounds like they are taking care of you. I don't have issues with Audi. I have issues with that dealer. And due to my location I don't have many other options. Now that I have my car back and everything is fixed i'm confident they can do good work I just don't think they are being managed well. I shouldn't have too many warranty related repairs so I won't have to deal with them often. And hopefully next time they do a better job. I won't be going there for regular service as I do all that myself.

Did you smell any coolant? Upon hard acceleration sometimes I get a brief whiff of coolant and wonder if I don't have a leak as well.
