In the process of doing mine now. It can be done without draining the coolant. I just clamped off the rubber hoses and put a plug in the block where the one hose bolts in. So far it's pretty easy. I have all day so just taking my time. I'll post some pictures when I'm done.

The job was pretty easy. Just takes some time. Could have probably finished in less than 4 hours but I wasn't in a hurry. No need to drain the coolant. Just clamp off a couple of hoses and plug one hole in the block.
I also changed the rear brake pads. That was a piece of cake.

Just had my oil separator go this morning.. This repair is a major expense that was not on my radar. Just picked up the car at the end of March. I guess I was to focused on the turbo issues going around. Used the TSB to price check the dealer, the originally quoted me over $2400 for the job. Got it down to 1700.

Squealing PCV Valve
Hello,
I’m not an expert on engine, especially not one as complicated/over-engineered as Audi’s so I need some help. I have 2015 A8L 4.0T with less than 50K miles. The engine started a terrible squealing sound last night. They told me it was the crankcase breather fault code and was $2,000 to repair.
1) Is this right and why wouldn’t it be covered under warranty?
2) Is it worth taking to a more affordable mechanic to get a second quote?
3) Is the vehicle safe to drive if I do try to get another quote?
THanks for your help!!
Kevin

When this happened on mine I called 2 independents and 2 audi dealers. Use the TSB for the required parts list and make the dealer match the parts costs on Audi parts USA. Com
The independents were more expensive for some reason
