Dealer now says August for test drive
My dealer just informed me they do not expect any 2011 A8s until August.
Sheeesh!
...and the Porsche V6 Panamera 4 configured very nicely comes to 93K-95K.

And don't be surprised if pricing info isn't available until just prior to October launch.

I just borrowed the dealers A8 4.2 TDi for 24 hours this afternoon. It puts a big smile on your face.
As I've not driven the petrol 4.2 before, I can't compare it in terms of engine refinement. But from a diesel perspective, D3 vs D4 is like night and day.
The gearbox makes huge difference, the new 8 speed unit is smooth and very quick for a big car. The paddles have more of a texture when you use them and it's easy to change from Sport to Manual mode with the button on the steering wheel.
In Dynamic mode everything is great apart from the steering (this car doesn't have all the extras, so it may be different when the real thing turns up). The steering feels a bit distant when driving the car in a spirited fashion.
The brakes are great (only time will tell if they'll suffer with over heating I guess), but the 19inch rims and tyres just aren't my cup of tea. Roll on the 20's :-)
The layout inside takes a bit of time to adjust to if you have the previous car. But my wife especially likes the touch pad. The speech recognition has worked 100% so far, very very impressive.
Last, but the best thing of all, the diesel has a low, but proper V8 burble when bumbling along at 2000 rpm. Really nice. I wonder how a nice Milltek exhaust would sound (have asked my dealer if they can arrange that as they are also a reseller for them).
All in all, you won't be disappointed.
Now... just time for another spin round the block!
