Debating between '12 4.2 and '13 4.0
#11
The 4.2 is a great motor. The 4.0T is a Fantastic motor. I'm not sure but I think the transmissions for the 4.0 were upgraded as well, so there's that to consider. I drove them both back to back and had to have the 4.0 when it was all said and done. Just an amazing sounding engine and the power is something I think will always keep the car exciting to own even 3-4 years down the line.

I got 17 city and 27 freeway, based on me doing the math. The computer read out about 10% optimistic, give or take. It wasn't off by a consistent amount. The best I ever had on the freeway was 29mpg, but I was really going easy for it. Never could quite crack 30mpg.

While 420hp and 444tq are the figures stated by Audi the actual dyno numbers from APR for a stock 4.0t are 456hp and 506tq.

If u get a 2011 2012 u save alot n get decent power, i wouldn't want a v6 in tbat big a car
4.0t r still up n turbos need attention Sooner or later but if i had the money i prolly would buy that as my 11 4.0 is fast enough but more is always desired 3.0 will give you regrets

Lots of really great input from you guys. The important thing I'm seeing is that I'm not going to go wrong with any engine option.
If I can find a '13 L with the sport package, white with nougat, and 3.0 I will pull the trigger. Otherwise I will stay on the V8 path and just see whats available when I'm ready to write the check. Unfortunately, used stock on the major sites isn't as appealing at the moment. Anyone have other sites they check besides cars.com, autotrader, and cargurus?
I want to avoid navy or black exterior, so finding a white or silver car may dictate the year as well.

Use yelp and find the highest rated dealer in your area. I can't verify the details but I was told by the dealer I purchased my car from that they have a network of vehicles coming off lease and are available dealer only. Again, I don't know if it's BS but it was interesting to hear. They implied it was pretty easy to source the one you want. I was looking for a white or black on nougat and found a deal too good to pass up on a black one. I had to deal with some other wackiness but it saved me 10k off the 4.0 with the same mileage / CPO. Really love the vehicle. Nothing better then massaging front seats.

That's an interesting idea. Frankly, I'm concerned that my budget could be prohibitive for trying to get a car from an Audi dealer...I'm looking to spend in the 28-32k range. I could drop down to an A6 and have plenty of overhead, but I'd really like an A8.
