Hi, I just bought an 2011 A8L and noticed a few A8s on the road with flat bottom exhaust tips integrated into the rear valence/bumper. Any ideas on why some have this? Is this retrofittable?

It was a model year change. I am not sure if you can retrofit it on to your vehicle or not.

That is the W12 picture below.
Would be involved/expensive to retrofit based on this parts diagram.

Vaguely remember there was a change to all trapezoidal during a model year, but can not find documentation of it.

yes you can ..... Lower valance and tips..... paint and welding done

Is it really that easy to change the look? I think the trapezoidal exhaust tips look fantastic with the rear tail lights and give the back end a more polished look.

I will speak to my dealer and see if they can order the parts and find a body shop that can do the work.

My 2013 A8L has these--I think this was the year of the change.

It was a 2013 MY change for the V8 to match the W12 exhaust. The V6 still only has round exhaust tips.

My 2013 A8L has it as well. I'm not sure if it's specific to the 4.0T but it looks good and is nicely integrated.
