Default EPB Switch Removal

My parking brake switch has broken, it physically pulls up but has to be pushed back down and vag.com is showing open circuit on it.

I want to take it out to see if I can either repair it or have to replace it...but am struggling. I have managed to get the black cover off but can not work out how to remove the switch. Pushing a credit card down the side of it appears to release it and it moves up but will not come out. Do I need to remove the whole console to get this out?

Thanks
Colin

The piano black trim is snapped into place, it pops out easily enough. I can't recall exactly how the parking brake is in there, but removing that trim will at least give you a better view. The matte black trim at the front of the console storage also snaps in, and may need to be removed. Just do it carefully.

Thanks, I have the black trim off, but it is not obvious what to do next....

I can't be of much help beyond that. To remove that whole thing, cupholders and all, the HVAC controls have to be removed to access all the screws, and that requires a special tool. I couldn't get it done because of this. Again, I wish I could be more help. Here is a guy selling that switch that has pictures of it all around, and may help you figure out what you need to do. It looks like it may have an anchor screw on the front of it going straight down.

I'm having the same issue. Did you manage to get it out?
