Escort Smart Radar detector
 

I am shopping for a stealth installation radar detector. Formerly had a build in Escort in my 02 D2 S8 and it became a must have feature over the 10 years I drove that car (said goodbye to it last Saturday).
I don't want to invest the $1500 or so to duplicate what I had since I don't think I'll drive this car nearly that long (have an A8--2011) ---Am looking at Escort's new
"Smart" unit which mounts high on the windshield behind the rear view mirror--then there is a seperate monitor unit which clips to the rear view mirror (or could be placed lower in the cabin if preferred). The concept is to tap into the rear view mirror's power and avoid running wires to the fuse box (which is an alternative install)

Does anyone know if it is possible to tap into the mirror's power?
