Factory Warranty v Audi Care coverages
My'15 CPO expires in November of this year. I have 36k on the car and plan to keep it at least 5 more years. Conservatively estimating, I will put another 75,000+ miles on the car in those 5 years. An extended warranty is certainly in my future.
When I bought the car in May 2018 with 18k on the odo, Audi Care's good until November 2019 or 55k although that never came up in their price negotiations and ended up being a very pleasant surprise! Audi Care has covered the cost of the 25k and 35k services, a direct savings of $2500 for me. Chance are good I'll get the 45k service under Audi Care before it expires..
Today I get this notice in the mail from my dealer, a month after they completed the 35k service. The $1893.56 "repair" is actually the retail price of the 35k service... it was covered under the transferred Audi Care program, NOT the Audi CPO Warranty. Thanks to MP4.2 for clarifying the difference to me a few months back. I believe this makes the claim on my flyer that it would have been covered under factory warranty false.
Question: Audi says the best time to get their extended warranty is when the car is still under factory warranty.... shouldn't I wait until the CPO is about to expire THEN make the purchase? Why would I buy it now (April) if it won't kick in until November unless their price is mileage dependent?
