Google Earth nav overlay not working

You have to be patient. It can take a few minutes for the Google Earth to load. It will seem to not be doing anything then all of the sudden, the Google icon lights up and the overlay appears.

For what it's worth, I still get the occasional message about "Etc. Do you want to use standard maps." that we saw last October, but seems to be much less frequently, but in certain spots in the US.
One is one mile south of ORD airport . Every time during a 2 mile stretch and then google earth comes back.
Fortunately, its only there and one place in Michigan where I've seen it still, to this day.
One reason I like Google Earth, is that I have not had my standard maps updated for years (really don't want to spend $300) and at least with google earth I can see newly completed roads and highways that weren't on the standard maps in 2013.
