Default Help!!! Car Died!!!

Last night im taking my normal 30 miles commute home. 35° out. Clear and not raining. Cruise control set at 80mph. I press the gas to pass a semi before my exit.

and my A8 doesnt do anything. No acceleration. It chugs and feels like its missing. Spitting and sputtering. So i pull off and into a parking to. When i come to a stop and put her in park. The rpms slowly spit and chug down until the car dies? No CEL or anything. Gas is 93 oct and at 1/4 tank. And it never had an issue before. Ever!

Now i try and start it and it cranks over and chuggs up to 1000 rpms and then slowly dies. Idk whats up? Any suggestions fellas??

Fuel filter? Might be blocked. Possibly the fuel pump?

a person I know had the same thing happen on his 11' 4.2 A8 eventually the fix was clearing out the carbon build-up on the valves and they replaced a few injectors

Default Uh oh!

sounds like a trip on a flatbed to a mechanic. Shouldn't be anything catastrophic, hard to believe it's carbon buildup with such low mileage

Might even be water in the gas. I had it with my Infiniti, wasn’t as bad as your situation.

You should be including your general geography, year and motor in your posts--signature, avatar, in the text, wherever.

Thus, my question offhand would be if it is a 4.0T, maybe a 2013, and then whether turbo's crapped out. Big bucks if it happens to be there, but I'm just guessing. Need more info in the post to try to connect any dots to other experience sets tied to years or motors.

Turbos are ****. Broken shaft on one and the other is cooked. I saw it today at the dealership. Total bill 10,400$. Fml. At least its almost summer and i have other cars. Drove the R today and tbh.... miss the torque or the 4.0T

I didn't see the milage on the car?

And that's a big bummer. For what its worth, a buddy bought a used a4 with a blown turbo and he found a brand new OEM audi turbo on eBay for $280.

Good luck!

See this thread from the AudiZine C7 board (as in S6's and 7's w/ 4.0T). Quite the eye opener, and specific to the 4.0T, not just generic Audi turbo stuff. Hence my earlier guess, and also my asking if it was a 2013. Again, what year is it? We also want this kind of info to help guide other owners and possible buyers. https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...goes-the-turbo

Another thread started there in just the last day too; same apparent story: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...4-Blown-Turbos

MP4.2 > Yes sir. She is a 2013 model year. just over 62k miles. Up until this. She was perfect. Oil changes every 5k miles. No real hard running. The occasional 20-100 blast on open high but nothing crazy. I have my Golf R to beat on.

This was very disappointing. Service counter was not really helpful and wanted to give a Nissan Juke as a loaner. I wasn't happy. Needless to say... I ubered home and got the R8. Glad it wasn't snowing.
