Default Impressions from a short drive in a NWB D4

A local dealer had two Euro-spec D4's last week for two days. I will very probably order the NWB D4, but was not immediately blown away by the exterior or interior styling. Dynamically the car is noticeably better than the D3. It is firmer in corners, which given that it is 2" wider it should be. One notably odd factor was that the summer 20" performance tires on the manufacturer's car were 265mm, not 275's as those on my stock 08 sport package car. Also, I was prepared to be blown away with the new interior, but while it had velvet beige leather, which is what I would order that is closest to the linen beige of my 08, the surface was coarse compared to my D3. Maybe this is a difference between Euro spec and US spec.I was not impressed by the dark died wood inserts. Also, even the alcantera seemed coarse compared to that in my car. I did very much like the lower seating position, even though that in my car is nearly as low. The 8 speed transmission makes for a more responsive low speed experience and the slightly more powerful engine is noticeable. Altogether, the D4 is an evolutionary change from the D3 to me. The exterior is more edgy and the new dash is more current by definition, but the attraction is basically the much improved dynamic difference for me. Like the D3 the new car seems much lighter than it is so it is a very satisfying car to drive.
