Default iphone 5 cable available for MMI?

Does Audi have a cable available that will allow an iphone 5 to be plugged into the car (and work fully, not just charge the phone)? It seems like I read about people using the red cable but that they had to use a converter for their iphone 5 and this seriously limited some functionality.

30 pin to lightning is the only way... for now.

If anyone knows of a new cable, please correct me.

Received my 2013 A8L 3.0 last week (after 5 months) and there was an iphone cable. I have Android and either cable is $80 at dealer. Presently traveling but will forward more info 6/21.

Lightning or old style connector ?
My 2012 came with the 30pin connector.

Just for clarification:

the (old style) 30 pin iphone connector is on the left and the new style (what I'm referring to as the iphone 5) "lightning connector" is on the right.

I just picked up a "red" connector at the dealership yesterday - $78. (My car came with the limited-functionality "blue" iPhone connector that doesn't have the Apple authentication chip, so it can't show album art of play videos.)

It's a 30-pin, and I asked the parts guy if they were coming out with any cables with the new "lightening" connector. He said that he didn't know.

Hanging out with a guy who writes for TUAW.com (the biggest Apple blog) last week, he said that Apple is being prohibitively difficult with vendors who want to make lightening connectors, do don't expect to see many soon.

I have an iPhone 4S and 5. Haven't tried the 5 with the red cable and 30-pin to lightening adapter. Are there issues? (Everything working fine with the 4S...)

Thanks,

Adam

Another reason I went from lifelong iPhone user to Android. When they came out with another proprietary connector, that was the last straw.

Same. My android is far superior in terms of functionality, flexibility, and innovation compared to my iphones. I can get all the Pandora stations names and songs on the MMI compared to the Iphone. The connectivity is easier without the cables as I am in a rush alot and do not have to keep plugging in the phone to get what I need.

I switched back to iPhone from a Nexus.
Never plugged either one in to AMI, but it would be nice to have one less cable in the car for charging.

When I got this A8 I immediately bought the biggest iPod available and then never used it - it's my nephew's now.
Road trip music is on the SD cards and copied to Jukebox, the rest of the time it's not worth the hassle to plug anything up and I listen to Sirius.
