K alert all the time with Valentine 1! its the CAR
Very very strange issue yesterday when installing my V1 into my 16 A8L Sport, the v1 is always showing a rear K alert.
Now i know you guys will automatically jump and say this and that, so, i took the v1 out of my car (its hardwired), used the valentine 1 supplied power cable (into a 12v) and viola! same exact issue, so its not the power.
we then took my v1 out of the a8L and put it into my friends e46 m3, no issues, no K alerts, nothing.
Then took HIS v1 out of his m3 and put it into my car both (hardwired and powered) and it was going off like a christmas tree.
Ok guys................ What in the 16 A8L is causing this?

Lennon, you can have the device updated by Valentine to take care of that assuming it's not too old.

is there something in the car that can be turned off?

the unit needs to be updated, its the lane depature system and all those nannies in the car, sending v1 in tomorrow they will replace and the new units wont have that 'K' alert all the time.
method to solving this: put in your SN on valentines website, will tell you your missing this and that is directly related to my issue.
cheers

This issue has been around for years now.
Noisy Valentine 1 Radar Detector (and some solutions)
Also, do you even need K where you are? I swallowed hard, but eventually turned off both X (early on) and K (later). X was an easy one; quite obsolete from years of experience locally. K was newer, but seems to have gone to wayside over time around my driving area given Ka. Neither X nor K are used these days anywhere in CA that I can find. It's all Ka, with some laser by CHP. Varies obviously around country.

Updating the v1 cant hurt anyway since my unit is 7+ years old, I also purchased a MAX360 which is sitting in the M5 (i love it so far...)
