Migrating from the D3 Boards

Hello D4 Owners. This is my first post on the D4 board. I owned a 2008 A8L for a few years, but it was totaled in November and I replaced it with a well optioned (see signature) and well maintained 2011 A8L 4.2L (10/29/2010 build date) with 95K miles.

It only needed a fresh battery, but I also replaced the tires, wipers and transmission fluid, then gave it a good detailing. I am loving it so far. I do miss the D3, but I'm certainly happy to be here now.

I had a quick question regarding one of the items on the build sheet. There is an entry for "7L7 - Regenerative braking for 12.5 V". I am familiar with regenerative braking in other makes and models, but I am skeptical this is the same thing and I can find nothing to explain what this refers to in a 2011 Audi A8. Does anyone else have this on their build sheet? I would love to learn more about it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your previous car. Glad you are OK and welcome to the world of D4!!! Your A8 looks more than fully loaded with all the best options. Congratulations! I will be the first to say post pics as soon as possible. FWIW, I checked my build sheet for my 2013 S8 and my car also has that option though it is referred to as "Recuperation" on the build sheet. No idea what it is. Best of luck with the car.

Welcome to the board, and welcome to D4 land, it's pretty great here! ☺

My car also has the regenerative system. The owners manual gives no detail as to nuts and bolts. The “green bar” apparently indicates when it is in charging mode. When I first took delivery of my car I took a cursory look behind the front wheels to see if there was any extra equipment, and I was happy to see nothing in the nature of electrical generators or such heavy equipment. Probably a motor/generator set up in the transmission.

Welcome to the D4 club! Mike
