Mmi data sim plus Bluetooth hands free?
Not sure if anyone knows but if I put a data sim in my car I can't use my iPhone to make calls? I have a late 2011 uk car , do I need a software update to enable this or is it not an option? I really like the idea of Google earth and wifi hotspot but don't want to give up my iPhone! Thanks

The European firmware has the ability to use the internal phone or a personal phone via Bluetooth to make and receive phone calls. This feature appears to have been recently enabled in later US firmware updates as well. After I got upgraded to 0814, the option became available. You should be able to change in the telephone settings which phone you wanna use to make/receive calls. It should also have prompted you when you put in the SIM for the very first time.

Thanks, I do not have those options and it did not ask when I first inserted the sim, I have a feeling that I will need an update doing to enable it. I assume it's a dealer only update or can you download it to USB or sd card? Thanks

Make sure you wait a little while before going into the telephone settings. I've noticed that if I enter the telephone settings before letting the MMI fully boot and establish the Bluetooth connection and everything the option to change which phone to use won't be visible. Give it a few minutes. If it still doesn't show then yes, I would say it's a trip to the dealer to get it sorted out.
