Looking at a used 2016 A8 sport with the 'natural gold brown inlay ash wood"......does anyone have this and how do you like it. Different than I have seen before.

I have the ash in my Balao Brown designs selection interior, I believe. I like it a lot, it's a really beautiful wood and I like the fact it is not as glossy as the regular wood trims inside the cars.

Edit: after a bit of digging I think I have a different color of ash than what you mention, mine is listed as Balsamic Brown...

Yes, this appears to have a "gold wash" [from the factory]...rather than accented in the pores of the wood in either black or dark brown. It does not seem that common. I believe that I do prefer yours, just trying to get someone's perspective that actually owns this finish and has lived with it.

Pores and stripes of the wood is definitely more noticeable.






I have the same setup as @Jibsymalone but I quite like this one too.
What we have is part of the design selection package balao brown.

I would prefer your wood with my aluminum trim. I like the open pore wood as it looks much more woodier. Even though the shiney stuff I have is real wood, it is so over-finished that it still feels like plastic. I build furniture out of wood and don't like the plastication of wood.

I have this exact wood in my 2015 - I love it. After years of driving German cars with glossy, easy to scratch and quick to glare wood - this is a very appreciated change of pace. I don't have to worry about fingerprints or dust, and it is so unique literally every occupant in the car has commented on it.

I have it, but would not have ordered it (got a car already on the boat). It is striking, but looks fake. It goes very well with the beige interior...but still looks fake. Amazing, almost unnatural, grain.
