Default Need new tires...and don't buy knock off rims!

So...bought some wheels off ebay, rotor style. cracked two of them and slowly losing air daily. Time to put back on the originals I guess. I LOVE Michelins personally, not sure if there's a better all season. Can I run 275/40/20s ok?

I am happy with my Continental DWS06 A/S tires. They're available in 275/40-20 size.

Thanks. debating on those or my michelins in 275/34/20. won't make a big enough difference for me. pissed I have to give up my rotor wheels, they look so much better than stock! but it is what it is

Ran Conti DW (summers) in 275/40-20, and now trying the DWS 06's for light winter use, also 275/40-20. So far, all fine but not enough cumulative miles w/ either to judge enough.

I just saw a blurb the other day the Michelin PS4 is indeed coming to USA sometime in coming months. They offer PS4's in Europe in 275/40-20, so assuming those make it here I would go that way next time for a summer tire choice. For A/S though, as you can see not available from Michelin so far anyway in 275/40.

Default New Pirelli tires

I just purchased a set of 4 Pirelli PZero Nero 265-40-20 all season tires with the noise canceling foam insert technology and I have to say I am most impressed.

It's tough to tell how much quieter they are because they're brand-new compared with the old set that had 40,000 miles on them. However I can say for sure that the slapping noise over freeway expansion joint is much quieter in the sense that there is less of a "ringing" harmonic noise feeding back through the suspension bushings etc.

We will see how they perform as they age.

I ended up with Michelins in a different size after reading a bunch of posts about tire sizes. Glad I kept my original 20 spoke rims! Bought the replicas off ebay, a year ago, so no way they're going to warranty anything, understandably I guess.

I learned the hard way few years ago with the D3 A8 and sport edition winter rims. They bend like plastic over bad pot holes and vibrated like crazy on highway after. I dumped them and sticked with Hartman wheels for winter time or Audi OEM wheels. IF you even need some decent 20 inch rims definitely get the OEMs or go for hartman wheels which are hub centric and super strong like OEM. I have them on our A7 and A6 too for winter wheels in size 19 and none of them have been bent in over 3 years even on bad roads.

Hartman wheels are weak as well. Mine cracked and started leaking air pretty quickly soon after purchase.
You want different wheels? Buy a good wheel from a proper brand and save yourself the headache.

After 32k miles on my OEM Pirelli all seasons, 265/40/20 I called my indie tire shop and told him to order me 275/40/20 Conto DWS.He advised against it as its a leased car and Audi might have an issue with the different tire size. Also thought they could be difficult regarding any warranty work foe the same reason. Told him I was ok with the Pirellis except for the noise. He suggested I try the new ones withe the noise cacellation. Also said he'd work with me if I didn't like them. Just ran through NJ Tpke this weekend and they were extremely quiet. Ride and handling were good as well. Had the DWS on my A7 and loved them but the Pirellis are quiet as well. Just my 2 cents worth.

Makes sense if on a lease to stay strictly stock in any case. But, they would be hard pressed though to come up with any logical objection for warranty issues and still try to say it with a remotely straight face.
