"New" 20" All Season Tire Option for D4?

FWIW there are "two" versions of the P Zero Nero A/S's if you look carefully at the pictures on TireRack. Confusing. One is really just a summer pattern with maybe lower temp rubber. Had that one on my A6 4.2. Worthless in any snow, especially stopping. The other version has a fair number more sipes and traction type stuff. Doesn't strike me as a better light snow A/S like the DWS, but at least better than the "other" P Zero Nero A/S flavor.

Just had the noise canceling system version of the O.E. Pirelli's installed and what a tremendous difference! The NCS is everything advertised and more. Definitely rides and handles better but the biggest difference is noise reduction. Almost but not quite as quiet as our previous Lexus LS460.

After my only PZero Nero experience with my old GTI, I will never give a dime to Pirelli for the rest of my life. Not sure what iteration they were, but they were hands down the most awful tire in every condition I have ever experienced. Dry, wet, snow, hot, cold...all terrible for the tire.

I have had several sets of Pirelli's on various cars, some good, some bad and some just okay. The special app Pirelli's are quite good at least on the A8L. But, I have had many sets of Michelin's and they were all good! Just don't have an exact replacement size for the A8L.

I would go to size 275/40R20 with Continental DWS 06. Thats what I am doing with the 10 spoke 20 inch rims. Its only 10 mm wider but greater protection and ride comfort.
Avoid Pirellis. Too much vibration, out of round conditions, noise noise and noise, and poor wear and traction.
Get these:
Continental*ExtremeContact DWS 06
UPDATE: Im not getting the DWS06 due to terrible out of round vibration issues with these tires from other people.

Update on 20" Pirelli Noise Cancelling Tires
About to change OEM Pirellis on my 2012 A8L at 25K miles. Can you share you experience with the 20" Noise Cancelling Pirellis now that you've had it for several months. Was considering Conti DWS 275/40R20 but was afraid it will void the warranty I have left on the car.

I couldn't get them to commit at the local Hibdon/Tires Plus that the tires they had in their warehouse were the noise canceling model, so I ended up buying through tire rack. The tires arrived in 4 days. I had them mounted and balanced and went for a drive only to discover a vibration at high speeds. I went back for a rebalance and now they are perfect. Took a short 1 hour road trip on the interstate over the weekend and they were marvelous. Quiet and smooth. The noise canceling system substantially reduced chatter over expansion joints and the like and the tires are very quiet and smooth over smooth pavement. Hit some heavy rain on the way home and they seemed to be very good at avoiding hydroplaning. So far, very impressed. My car is now as quiet as any car I've ever owned.

Don't know about the warranty issue, but the tires have been very good. Much quieter than the OEMs and have stayed that way. They got a bit noisy right before rotation, but once rotated, they were fine. Treadwear seems good.
One thing - if you get a nail in them, the foam on the inside makes them hard to repair.

Here is my 2012 Audi A8L with the size 255/45R20 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 plus tires. I recommend these as replacement for the standard tires. I dont see why people stick with the same size OEM tires when they can go with different sizes and stay within the 2% margin of speedo error. Theres no rubbing or issue.
