P2098 and Random Misfires- Any Clues?

I have been trying to find a solution for my P2098 code which I read on an OBDII reader and on VCDS. What I find is the 2098, Bank 2 Position 2 Lean, and usually I get some P0300, P0305, P0306, and P0308 codes as well. I extracted both sensors, and they both look lean, haven't pulled the plugs yet. All of my reading here and other forums point to either a pre-cat position 1 O2 sensor, or a failing HP fuel pump on the driver's side. Can't locate any vacuum leaks, and am running out of clues to diagnose this issue. Is there anyone that has had this type of experience with the D4 (2011) 4.2l? At the start of this ordeal, I had a mouse nest built beside the #8 injector which caused it to leak and spray gas everywhere. Somehow, no fire started, so disassembled the top end, replaced the injector, did a timing chain replacement and ended up here. Car seems to run fine, but I am tired of the CEL!

I had the same error and it turned out to be the identified sensor. However I never had any misfires, so maybe your issue will be different.

Good luck!

Check for a carbon buildup before you start on the pump.

During the rebuild of the injector system, the heads were cleaned at least to the valve level. I did remove the O2 sensors from the left back, both looked very lean, no carbon build up. cleaned them up and returned them to position, Cleared codes, light was gone for a day, then came back. Haven't re-read codes yet.

To exclude HPFP check with VCDS whats the PSI on the fuel rail. Second step will be to check battery level. I know it's simple stuff but it is worth the look before fixing expensive elements.

Can you clue me in as to what controller and command I use in VCDS to read the fuel pressure?

I would start here :)

I will do it tomorrow. It's in getting a windshield today. That is a great article, is there an easy way to look up those Ross-Tech guides by key word?

I just did search on google and video pop up, that's all.

SO, After I reset all of the Driver's Side O2 sensors, my code turned to a P0153. I assume either bad connection or bad sensor. I noticed some damage to the car side of the connector, so I guess I will try to rebuild the connector, then replace the sensor if that does not work.

Interestingly, the car runs much more consistently in this condition. It seems a might doggish, but certainly doesn't get the misfires and hesitation it was before. I hate to dig back in behind the engine, but no choice at this point. I have not checked the fuel rail pressure yet, probably will do that before I dig in just to verify. Still, it operates better in this condition, without this sensor working, what can I damage?
