Pictures of an A8/S8 with 50% tint
Does anyone have any pics of an A8 or S8 with 50% tint? Any thoughts on what this should cost to be done well? Thank you.

I'd like to see some pictures of cars with tint also.

$100 for tint is not enough for quality film. I would avoid getting the cheap stuff.
To get ceramic film on an A8 should be a minimum of $200 installed, and possibly as much as $350 depending on where you are and the local market.

I would avoid getting tint done by your dealership. They usually have some mobile tint guys that don't have the best film products, and don't do very good work.
Do an internet search for LLumar or FormulaOne tint films and find a dealer on their website who sells their high-end ceramic films.
Then go visit the tint shop and talk to them. See if they have more than one person working on a car at a time. Doing a quality tint job is sometimes a 2 person job, particularly with the rear windshield. You want to be sure they don't get any hairs or dust under the tint or it will show on your window. Also, check the edge of windows to make sure they don't leave any visible gaps around the edges. The tint should be applied all the way to the edge of the glass so that it tucks behind the rubber moulding.
Make sure they do one-piece rear windshields. Some of the cheaper places will try to do the rear window in 2 piece strips. Don't accept that. Every window should be a single piece of film that is heat-shrunk to fit perfectly.

I've got SunTek CXP and am very happy with it.
Had it on the D3 as well, and cost $250 installed with lifetime fade warranty.
My installer will also replace panels at no charge if they get nicked or scratched.
They came highly recommended by the dealer and do all the high end vehicle dealerships and city/county vehicles.
Try calling around to dealers and see if you can connect dots on who they recommend.
It is only 0.3% of the cost of the vehicle so you want it done right.
subterFUSE is correct - go for quality materials and installer.
It's a good idea to properly care for it too and I use Invisible Glass since that is what SunStoppers recommended.
I'd be leery of installers saying they can't tint the whole back window or charge extra to remove the hat shelf, etc.
Absolutely none of that was necessary on the D3 or the D4.
They did remove some trim to get it right and were extremely careful.
On a side note, I had a hard time not laughing out loud while waiting when a guy brought in a brand new Corvette ZR1 and proceeded to bitch about the price and left.

Checkout 3M Window Films.
They have several levels of performance. I just had their top of the line Crystalline film installed on my A4 (50%). It has superior heat rejection with much lighter tint. Lifetime warranty, no cell phone interference. They stand behind their products.
