Poor cell phone bluetooth sound
2013 Audi A8L
Every single person says I sound like I am in a wind tunnel whenever I have the heating/cooling on regardless of whether the fan is running high/medium/low.
Anyway, do others suffer from this? When I turn off heating/cooling they say it goes away. I have moved the phone physically around the car and it's not that so it must be the mic picking up a vent.
Suggestions?

Well, if you are using bluetooth, your phone location is irrelevant. You could have it in the trunk for all it matters. If you have any vents directed upwards, it'll blow on the mic near the sunroof controls. This applies at even the lowest fan speed.

On any of these complaints, always try with a separate known good phone. And try your phone in some other vehicle as another alternate.
Phone side issue perhaps a lot more often than you may think--I would speculate as high as 90%. I had to demonstrate it personally to the Apple "Genius" at their flagship Palo Alto store for example. The Genius who also thought music bluetooth (A2DP) was same as phone bluetooth when he pulled out a wireless speaker to test it; only the store manager eventually realized the difference when I persisted. I thought it might the car that time since they gave me a replacement phone only days before, but nope another Apple lemon. People could not hear me unless I switched off hands free at the phone. But, found it didn't work in wife's Q5 on same trip in exactly the same way, telling me basically it was the indeed the virtually new phone. Went through 3 5S's in two years of warranty, none w/ broken screens or water.

Face the vents down or towards you instead of up towards the mic near the rearview mirror and it will improve the sound quality on the other line. I have tested this on my A8L. The A7 doesnt have this issue.

I found i improved the quality of my mic by turning up the bluetooth mic volume to the top, it's default setting is about half.
Not sure if everyone knows about this option as it's only visible in the bluetooth menu options during a call
