Question Rear License Plate

I have a new S8 and would like to put on a carbon fiber cover around the state license plate. However, when I remove the dealer cover the actual black plate on the car that the state plate attaches to is oversized.

Does anyone know if that black plate can be replaced with a smaller version and where to get one?

Thanks.

I don't know about a carbon fiber plate cover, but if you are looking for a good quality black surround, I can absolutely recommend this one. I have it on my A8L, and it is perfect. In fact, I'll be putting the same surround on my Corvette Stingray when it arrives in September.

Have the same one and completely agree.
Bought 3 or 4 before landing on that one and it's very good.

The only carbon fibre ones I've seen that looked decent are: http://www.audi-collection.com/Vehic...-license-frame
Wasn't about to spend $100 on something that's not legal in my state though - covers too much of plate.

I don't know of a replacement for the base plate.

Thank you all. I will check out the black one that you recommend. I already have the carbon fiber one but it's a bit small as I mentioned. Does the black one that you like cover the black back plate?

Yes, it's a very clean look.

Took a picture while I was out and about today.

You can see it covers the base plate almost perfectly, same on all edges.

@jakematic - Hmm, a torx screw ... is that to prevent someone from taking the plate?

Partly, but in reality any pro crook would have the tool.

The big reason is they are the lowest profile ones I could find that are stainless steel.
