I don't buy that explanation. Do they offer some sort of warranty with their tunes?

Seems suspect to me as well. I just googled RS7 engine failure (transmission as well) and found zero. This engine/trans combo has been around for a while and is mostly problem free. There are a few S6/7's that have had transmission issues but that is the 7 speed double clutch gearbox.

That sounds like the answer to me. They don't want to tune it because they don't want to warranty what they see as a high risk proposition. I wouldn't push it, I would just go to someone else for a tune.

Tuning with the idea of having a warranty outside of parts and labor is unrealistic.
