Replacement tires for my summer tires
#22
Which model / year are you driving ?
In my case, two installers in my area refused to do it due to liability. With one installer, we replaced a single front tire ; we could fit only 3 credit cards between the tire and the steering arm, it was that close.
My thoughts were that a good bump would cause sidewalls to expand just a bit with bad consequences to follow
Maybe that can be attributed to every car being just a little bit different ... And/or the tire itself .
The tires I was working with were continental 275/40 20 DWS 06

I had one Audi Dealer tell me they wouldn't install them either. No big deal, just went to the other Audi dealer and no problem. Some people just don't get it, they think you have to use factory sizing for some reason.
I'd run 285/40/20 if they were reasonably priced, but there's only a few out there in a soft compound and and they are $400 each, so that would be a little steep for me just for a bit wider rubber that's bound to wear out quite fast.

For those that care; I ended up going with 275/35 20; fit well, OK ride. Two days after the installation busted the sidewall right under the bead by hitting a mid sized pothole the wrong way. The warranty took care of everything, and for the past year the tires rolled pretty well; back to winters now though
