See reply 3 to this thread for the "how to." Worked on my 2015. Pics below. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-...tting-2899288/
No joy with my 2013. The menu item shows up but when you click on it is says "not available" or something like that. I've reset the MMI and still nothing.

Worked on my 2014 S8

[Select]
[13 - Auto Distance Regulation]
[Adaptation - 10]
Select channel IDE01949 - Distance basic setting option
Set the new value from off to on
Press "Do It!"
Press "Go Back"
Close VCDS and reboot MMI

Has anyone figured out the cause of the "resetting noise"? Can it be fixed?

On my car, I think this is a “phantom” dash noise that is actually coming from the bolsters on the driver seat moving into position when I start the car.

Default Dealership explanation

Greetings. As this is my first post, I would like to lead off by saying thank you for all of the great information that I have benefited from while working on my 2005 A8 D3. I have recently purchased a 2015 S8 and have been scouring the interwebs attempting to find out what the noise is coming from my dash. It is exactly as has been described in this thread. A scratching/clicking at random times. Today I was at the dealership in San Diego and got the service manager to explain it to me. He said it is the car searching for the smart key and is normal. He said they had removed the dash on multiple A8s trying to figure it out. They finally realized that when the sensors that find the key were unplugged the sound went away. Good to hear that it is not a hard drive going out or worse.

Thanks again for the great information and participation by the A8 community.
