Residual heating
Discovered the other day that if the car is off and you hold down the fan button for a couple of seconds the car will be heated with the residual heat from the coolant for an hour. Not tried it for that long but I have used it a few times when I've driven somewhere, got out to do something for 10 - 15 minutes and left it on (with the car off and doors locked) and come back in and it's still nice and toasty and blowing warm air. Nice little feature that some other folks might not know about.

Does this work with the a/c as well?
Will have to try the heat today...being below freezing and all. |

When you engage the feature, you can also adjust the fan speed. Mine defaults to 3.
It will run up to 30 minutes, so in the interest of battery life I turn my fan speed down to 1 if it's going to be running for the entire cycle. Still keeps the car toasty! |
Great tip everyone. Tried it today while waiting in drive through lane at pharmacy. Works like a charm. |
Nice tip. Thanks for posting. |
Best tip of the year. Thanks!

After nearly 7 years of ownership I finally discovered this. I had been using this feature on the Q7 for years, but never realized that it works on the D4. It has come in very handy the last week in Minnesota!

Worked all the way back to the D2 :)
