You must have been reading my mind. I was about to ask when we might see the order guide. It looks like most of the features/options I want are standard equipment, although a couple of the packages look like good additions. What interior and exterior colors are available?
Any idea of base, package and option prices? I realize that Audi typically waits before they announce prices. The Car and Driver review listed $115,000 as the "base price", but car reviews are not especially reliable. I figure the low-mid 120's for a reasonably equipped version. That review and the Autoweek one were laudatory except for the body roll, which could be a deal breaker, given the close proximity in price to the Pan GTS. Of course, as yet another alternative there is also the next D4 A8 that might just have the new A6 and A7 4.0 turbo engine that with a sport package will be a good compromise. Not especially interested in stoplight races anyway so the monster torque of the S8 might be seriously underutilized by me.

Thanks. Phantom Black Pearl, which is what my RS4 and A8 have been is my preferred color. Might look a bit extreme with the Lunar Silver and the carbon trim and the safe combination is a black interior, but it is supposed to be a sports version. I have found that living with the Linen Beige in my 08 is quite easy. In fact, the lighter color leather might show any wear better than black.

On the 4.0, my guess is a single turbo, as in the S6 and S7 that will make about 420 bhp. I too am sensitive to potential turbo lag, but until I drive one I will reserve judgment. I can only say that my A7 has no perceptible SC lag at all. Its power delivery is quite linear and smooth. I might add that the engine growl from the A7 is just about right. Not too boy racer or too soft. Moreover, the fuel efficiency of the A7 is quite impressive, as I am sure it will be with the 4.0 turbo, as least compared to my 08 4.2.

First time I have heard of a top view camera from Audi. (Thought it is available on most Infiniti models). Is this available on other Audi models such as the 2013 Q5?

In addition to the S8, the S6 will feature the top view camera system as part of the Innovation package; S7's Innovation package features a Corner View camera system. Not aware of any other Audi model with these systems, at least not yet.

Upon further review the 4.0 in the S6 and S7 are twin turbo, according to what I have read, although my German is not great. Will be tuned to 420 bhp, although I do not know what the torque they will make. The RS versions of the 6 and 7 will likely be tuned to at least the S8 output, probably more, which will make them tough to beat by just about any 4 door sedan.

Any links to the S8 interior in black? The German S8 site does not have a configurator yet. Would like to see the pipping treatment of the black diamond-patterned seats. For that matter, the sport package seats in black in the US might be the same, so links to such photos would also be appreciated, as they do not appear in the US A8 sport package configurator. Also, why are the German prices for a well equipped/optioned A8 40-50% more than US prices?
