Default S8 plate holder rec

2017 S8 - don’t want to ruin the front grille with placing a license plate in the middle. Anyone has a favorite solution for plate holder? Thank you!

Tow hook ones are now so "last year"...

Put aside the specific brand, but this hide away concept. Either simple pull out, or knock yourself out wiring motorized:
Amazon Amazon
.

I ended up with one on a used Golf R--simple manual type. It solves the CA problem of parking in some cities that ticket parked cars for no front plate.

Specific to S8 (and facelift A8 4.0T's with same bumper), realize the nose of the car is way forward and leads with its lower chin. The hidden ones will likely get scraped--given my S8 can scrape on driveways and street gutter swales even with no hidden plate. I'm not a big fan of off center plate look, but may be a necessary if plate is under there to minimize the issue.

Thanks very much. Would an off-center (side) plate mess up the parking sensors and cause them to beep?

If you want to leave plate up when driving, maybe yes in some circumstances. Certainly try to pick a location between sensors rather than in front of them. BUT, remember the sensors are not active in front when in normal drive mode. They only become active when you either go into reverse and thereafter when parking, or when you press the dash button for them. Thus, they don't trigger when a pedestrian walks in front of car or you pull close to a car in front in traffic or the drive through lane. Same with a plate hanging out there.

I have an off center plate on my 2016 A8L 4.0. No issues here at all with parking sensors.

Even if they do trigger the parking sensor, its not that big of a deal. Think about how often are you in parking mode and for how long.

thanks for letting me know. Already bought the Platipus plate holder. If it doesn’t work well I’ll look for other options. thank you.
